Getting a claim right before it goes out matters as much as working the denial afterward. You'll review our completed encounters and claims each day, catch anything that doesn't look right, fix or flag it, and help us submit clean claims — fewer denials, less rework, faster payment.
What you'll do
- Review completed encounters and claims for accuracy before submission
- Verify CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers
- Make sure claims use the correct Rural Health Clinic (RHC) billing methodology
- Check payer-specific requirements across Medicare, TennCare/Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and commercial plans
- Work claim edits, rejections and clearinghouse errors; correct and resubmit as needed
- Spot recurring denial and rejection trends and flag them to clinic leadership
- Work in eClinicalWorks and payer/clearinghouse portals
- Help with periodic A/R review and let clinic staff know about documentation issues that affect payment
Preferred qualifications
- 2+ years of medical billing and/or coding
- Rural Health Clinic experience strongly preferred, especially Medicare RHC billing
- TennCare/Medicaid and Medicare Advantage billing
- eClinicalWorks and electronic claim submission
- Detail-oriented, independent, and able to research problems on your own
