Dr. Payant brings over two decades of frontline medical experience to Elderberry Health, including 21 years as an emergency physician before joining our team, and now serves as Medical Director. A Fentress County local, he went to medical school at UT Health Sciences in Memphis and trained in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Jackson. Patients appreciate his calm, unhurried approach and the hard-won diagnostic instincts that come from years spent managing everything from everyday illness to life-threatening emergencies.

Marina is passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals and families of all ages, and is committed to building trusting relationships with her patients while delivering evidence-based, personalized care. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Bethel University. Fluent in both English and Arabic, Marina enjoys caring for patients from diverse backgrounds and strives to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and supported. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, attending church, and relaxing at the beach.

Dr. Litchfield is the founder of Elderberry Health. A graduate of ETSU's Quillen College of Medicine, he trained in Family Medicine at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning before serving as a U.S. Army Flight Surgeon at Fort Rucker — home of Army Aviation. After nearly two decades running emergency departments across the Southeast, including stints as ED Medical Director at multiple St. Thomas Ascension hospitals, he built Ashland City Clinic from the ground up to bring something better to Cheatham County.
